Excellence in English. Who are we?
Excellence in English is a small but vibrant language teaching organisation, located in beautiful North Norfolk, which runs tailor-made English language courses and holidays for adults. The company is run by Catherine de Lara and Peter Maingay, both fully qualified teachers with extensive experience in the field of language teaching. Hear what they say about their work:
"We love meeting new people from such a wide range of countries, planning and delivering courses, as well as advising on and participating in social programme and free time activities. Both Peter and Catherine work as oral examiners for Trinity College London – work which takes them to all parts of the globe.
Catherine de Lara
Catherine has a background in business and law, worked for a number of years in the conference department of the United Nations in Geneva before moving into the world of English language teaching.
Fully qualified, with an MA in Applied Linguistics, she worked for International House and The Bell Language Schools before going freelance and setting up her own business.

Peter Maingay
Peter has been a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, a teacher trainer and a trainer trainer for over 40 years. He has gained extensive experience in a wide range of countries, including Italy, France, Thailand, Brazil and South Korea and has worked for The British Council, International House and The Bell Language Schools among others.
Peter is currently a British Council inspector of British language schools and an associate trainer with the Norwich Institute for Language Education.
